Fun Fake-Out!

I had my first of two graduations last Friday from PA school! I will officially graduate in August from the program, but this was the only graduation that took place at MUSC. The nostalgic side of me really made me want to graduate on the horseshoe because my father and step-father graduated from the same school. I can't believe that I really will be done in about 2 months with this journey! It really has flown by. It has been a tough, but rewarding season of life. Here are some pictures from the day: Amber and I after the ceremony Me and mom Bokes and I Big Ken and Mom with their baby girl Daddy and Me Kim and Dad with me One of the main teachings that I will keep with me from the speeches last Friday was to never lose the compassion that we have when we start school. The compassionate spirit that made us want to go into medicine in the first place. The compassion and caring for patients should be the reason we want to do our job every day. I am so blessed that I am abl

Happy Birthday Bokes!

Ryan's birthday was Tuesday...the big 2-9!!  For those of you who don't know, Ryan and I call each other "bokes" as a pet name..we actually stole it from my friend Sal from the last post and her hubby, Taylor. So, it was Bokes' birthday Tuesday and we just had to celebrate! This is actually the first year since we have been together, dating or married that I have actually seen Ryan on his birthday day. So, I just wanted to make it so special for him. I set up all his cards for him when he got home from work and then Scout and I gave him our presents. He got a sweet card that Scout picked out himself :), and a gift certificate for a massage which he loved! We went to dinner with our bible study groups at Moe's Tavern for half-price burgers...delicious. We had a big turn out of 15 people for the party. It was a blast! Here are some pics of all the couples and other shots from the dinner party. So much fun!! When Ryan and I got home, we had the cake and

A Cweepy Visit

My sweet friend and roomie from college, Sally, came to visit a couple of weekends ago. Since I am so far behind on blogging, I am just getting to putting the pictures up. Sal and I began calling each other "cweeps" during our time living together our senior year of college in Grannies. This was mainly because I would wake up in the morning and Sally would be going through my drawers trying to steal something to wear, or I would go upstairs and she would be sitting in the closet...just creepy things that would make me gasp. We then had a fun activity where we liked to change the letter "r" in words to the letter "w" because of a book Sally read to her first graders. Hence the word "cweep". It has really stuck too and now that is what we mainly call one another. It was so sweet of Sal to drive to see Becca and myself. She lives in Atlanta but drove to Charleston to see us. I took a pic of her in the driver's seat for your viewing pleasure.

My cup overflows...

Sorry for the delay in postings....life has truly been crazy, but in the best way possible. We have been studying, working, playing and spending nights in the ER. I apologize for my lack of keeping up with the blog...but it is Sunday and a day to reflect on things I am thankful for in the last week. So, here are some reasons that my cup overflows because of God's blessing this past week.... My cup overflows from a clean bill of health. We did have a ER visit from a terrible, first migraine of my life. I know to much from school, as Ryan says, and was sure I had a brain-bleed. So, off to the ER to get scanned we went at 10:30 at night. Everything is okay, PTL! (praise the Lord, for those who don't know my abbreviation) My cup overflows for a wonderful family. We spent some time with my in-laws and my family this past weekend and it was truly glorious. How precious when a family truly loves and cares for one another in the most special way. My cup overflows that it is my neph

My cup overflows....

\ Our pastor at ECBC was talking about praying through Scripture during our time in prayer. A great Scriptue he gave an example of praying through was Psalm 23: "The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoit my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever." Buster talked about "cup runneth over" moments in life where we can sense the presence of God in daily living and be full of joy here on earth.  I have been meditating on that and thinking of how thankful I am that our God doesn
