Daddy Scott

Daddy Scott is my grandaddy. He is such a special man to me. He loves people lavishly, cares for others in generosity and believes and lives for the glory of God. He has the biggest heart of almost anyone I know. He played Clemson football in college and is in the hall of fame there...he will tell you ALL about it if you ask him. His passion is farming and he has done it all of his life. He was recently diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the lung. This isn't necessarily a fatal diagnosis, but if you combine it with his age, pulmonary fibrosis. Sjogren's disease, and SVT, it really affects his health and well being. He was diagnosed in December and he has been declining since. We are all still hopeful, but we can see the toll it is taking on his quality of life. He has been feeling very weak lately. He has to rest indoors alot, which is not his favorite thing to do. He hates being inside all day, but unfortunetly, this illness forces him to do that. I would just ask you to pray

Home Town Visit

This weekend, we went back to Manning for a little family visit. We really enjoyed it and were able to have a great visit. My dog in Manning, Herschel, hated Scout and would not have any thing to do with him. I think he was jealous that I brought another dog around. By the second day, he nipped Scout in the nose and Scout figured out that he better not mess with Herschel. We went out to my granddaddy's pond at the farm, which is where Ryan and I got engaged. It is beautiful out there. Here are some pics of the scenery: Peach trees at the farm... Daddy Scott decided he was going to build a pond house. They started the framing on Saturday and we went to check it out. They are all hoping that this will be the Jackson family hang out for get togethers/holidays. The beginning work looked great, but Daddy Scott was getting grief from Mama Scott and Rosy who thought the house needed 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and a washer and dryer. Also at the farm, Daddy Scott had his barn rebuilt and got a n

Sette=Romance

Sette is a restaurant in Mount Pleasant. It is a definite favorite in our book....we love Sette. We have a running joke that if there is a double date or couple coming in to town to visit-we automatically suggest taking them to Sette. We love the food and the atmosphere and it is just THE PLACE in Charleston for ROMANCE!!! We went to Sette this past Friday with Becca & Craig. It was a great date night together. Craig knew almost every single person that was eating or working at Sette, so he was pretty busy chatting it up, but the rest of us had a very relaxing and enjoyable evening :) Craig is looking very masculine in this one... Bossy, girl.... Beccs and I....this pic was almost creeped on by Craig, but I was able to crop him out..sorry! We loved the double date, guys! And, to all our friends out there, come visit us and you are sure to get a trip to eat at Sette!!

Happy Val Day!

This weekend was Valentine’s weekend, for all you lovers out there. Ryan and I had a romance-filled weekend. Friday night we went out to sushi with a bunch of friends and had fun watching the snow. Saturday, we went to the wildlife expo with Craig, Becca and Craig’s dog Henry. Scout and Henry had a fun time playing together out in the park. Ryan dressed in his camo ready for some wildlife action w/ Scout Beccs and Craig trying to make Craig’s dog, Henry, behave!!!! Scout & Henry trying to get to know each other. Scout was a little fearful at first, but dominated Henry by the end of the day! Saturday night was the Valentine’s dinner with our Sunday school class. Our wonderful Sunday school teachers served us out at the Caldwell’s beautiful home in Awendaw, River Oaks. They did not have any electricity because of the snow storm but it just made it more romantic. We had valet parking service when we drove up. Then, we were greeted and given pumpkin soup appetizers and Pelligrino spar

Snow on the Coast!

Well, it has been a while since it last snowed in Charleston.....1989 to be exact!!! We were so excited to have about 3 inches of snow that stuck on the ground to marvel at and play in. Scout was leery of the snow and didn't really love it, but he was a trooper. Here are some pictures of the snowy few hours we were able to experience here in the coastal city! Our house this morning in the beautiful white blanket of snow!! Scout was very unsure of what to do with all the white stuff on the ground. He liked eating it and enjoyed a little snack! Brad and Mandy enjoyed the snow too!!! Then they went to get the firefighters to help us because a tree fell on a cable wire and started sparking. Everything was okay, though. Thanks Martins!!!

He's kind of a big deal....

Well, I knew my husband was handsome when we got married, but I had no idea he would be a model one day! Ryan is now THE FACE for the company he is working for :) He has had countless photo shoots and his picture is on the info sheets that his company gives all of their clients. I know, right.....he really is a big deal!!! I just think that is hilarious that any second at work, Ryan will turn around and someone will be taking his picture. And, he has to go to work everyday looking hot...you know, just in case! Don't worry about me...I don't really feel insecure about it or anything like that. Just secretely hoping that one day I will be discovered too. Until then, I am happy to brag on my handsome husband!!! Well, here is the link to the website if you want to go check it out....www.peoplematter.com

More...

Right now, I am doing Beth Moore's bible study The Beloved Disciple about John. It has been so great and I love my b-study friends! One of the main themes in John's gospel is MORE. He makes more references to abundant life, joy, God as the father, belief and Jesus' interactions with women than any other gospel writer. It has been great learning about so far! Something that has really been on my heart lately because of God's Word through this study is how easily satisfied we are as people and as believers. A quote by C.S. Lewis has really stuck in my mind and heart and I wanted to share it with all of you: "If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gosples, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when INFINITE JOY is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a s

Welcome Home, Scout!!

Scout was a wonderful Christmas present and we bought him in Powdersville, SC when he was just 5 weeks old. We really were so excited and had wanted a dog for a long time. When we got back to Charleston and figured out what our schedules were going to be like, we realized we had bitten off a little more than we could chew. Thankfully, Mr. Mike and Ms. Cindy came to our rescue and offered to help us with the little guy for a few weeks-months until things settled down a little for us. So Scout went back to Greenville when he was 6 weeks old....sad day :( We visited him a lot though so he would still remember us! This is Scout at 8 weeks old when we went to visit him and his uncle Matt in Savannah, GA. He had gotten so big and smart! It broke our hearts to leave him again, but we knew he was in good hands with his grand-parents! Then we were reunited again in Greenville when we went to visit with the Stanfills. I think he still remembered us and we got to play with the little guy. Ye
