Good Friday

I am sitting here at my dining room table looking out at the rain and reflecting on all today means for us. More than Christmas or Easter Sunday, this is the day we reflect on the death of Our Savior. This is the day we reflect on what has been accomplished so that we could have salvation. Our precious Lord and Savior came to this earth to die for you and for me. He came to die. In His death, we have life. In His death, He took all of our sin on His shoulders and became the perfect sacrifice. Jesus felt forsaken, alone, confused, desperate for any other plan that may be able to work. Even in the midst of all those emotions, His love for us prevailed. He endured the scorn and the shame and being forsaken by His Father for our sakes. At church last Sunday, Bill (one of our pastors) was saying that Jesus is more willing to die for us than we are willing to accept his offering. We do not want the deliverance He offers and we enlist Him in our own plans to accomplish what we may be wantin...

Down South

After the fun beginning to our weekend, we ended up in Manning to finish it up. It was good to be back home and we got to spend some great time with my mom, stepdad, grandmother, sister and all her family, countless cousins and aunts and uncles :). I love that I am from a place where you can see your entire extended family in one fail swoop (is that the way that saying is spelled? never tried to spell it before). I had really been wanting to see Daddy Scott's grave after the funeral to spend some time. So, my mom took me out to the graveyard and we spent some time there. My uncle had planted a cherry and dogwood tree at the grave that morning and it looked beautiful. We also went around to look at some other relatives' graves, including my great-grandmother whom I am named after. Here are some pictures.... Then, we headed out to the pond house to eat dinner with the family. We grilled out and all the family came. Ryan caught fish and was letting all my nieces and nephew c...

BBQ Shower for Becca and Craig

After meeting Augusta Daye, Ryan and I headed to Sumter, SC for a wedding shower for Becca and Craig. Becca is one of my sweet "grannie" friends and she got engaged to Craig a few months ago. I am sure you may remember this cute duo from posts when we lived in Charleston. It has been a while since we have seen them, so it was amazing to see them and celebrate their engagement this weekend. Their wedding will be here in almost a month....hard to believe!! The setting for the shower was beautiful. It was a perfect night with sweet friends. I was so excited to also get some time with another great friend, Hanna, who I didn't even know would be there. We had a blast. Craig's dad, Vic, ended up taking my camera from me because he forgot his and took an enormous amount of "candid" shots. I got so cracked up because at one point he looked at me and said, "This is the  biggest roll of film I have ever seen." (keep in mind my camera is digital :)) So many...
